Fritz Winter
Fritz Winter studied at Bauhaus in Dessau and was a pupil of Paul Klee,Wassily Kandinsky and Oskar Schlemmer. Through his abstract language, he always referred to nature and tried to visualise its growth, powers and shapes. During National Socialism he emigrated to Dießen am Ammersee and in 1937, he was forbidden to paint. Since the 1950s, Fritz Winter received numerous considerable art awards and was successful on the international scale. In 1950, he hence participated the Biennale in Venedig and was represented at the documenta I to III. In 2012/2013, his work was showcased in Munich at the Pinakothek. Deceased in 1976, the artist is numbered among the most popular artist during postwar.
